Job Summary– Junior Quantity Surveyor Engineer

The Junior Quantity Surveyor Engineer will assist in managing project quantities, cost estimates, BOQ preparation, and contract documentation. The role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to interpret drawings and technical specifications. The successful candidate will support senior QS team members in preparing reports, verifying site quantities, and coordinating with project stakeholders to ensure accurate and timely cost control throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

Cost Estimation & Quantity Take-Off

  • Assist in preparing cost estimates and detailed Bills of Quantities (BOQs).
  • Conduct quantity take-offs using drawings, specifications, and site measurements.
  • Support cost analysis and comparison exercises for materials and construction items.

Tender & Contract Support

  • Assist in preparing tender documents, subcontractor inquiries, and comparison sheets.
  • Support drafting and updating contract documentation under guidance from senior QS staff.
  • Help in preparing variation orders, claims, and change request documentation.

Site Coordination & Verification

  • Conduct site visits to verify quantities, measure completed works, and collect data.
  • Coordinate with site engineers and subcontractors for accurate measurement updates.
  • Support preparation of progress reports and site measurement sheets.

Cost Control & Reporting

  • Assist in tracking project budgets and financial progress.
  • Prepare organized documentation including cost logs, material logs, and progress payment breakdowns.
  • Support preparation of monthly cost reports, financial updates, and forecasting documents.

Team Collaboration & Documentation

  • Maintain well-organized records of drawings, revisions, and quantity updates.
  • Coordinate with engineers, procurement, and subcontractors to gather required information.
  • Support senior QS staff in meetings, documentation, and client submissions.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or Quantity Surveying.
  • 1–3 years of experience in quantity surveying, cost control, or construction engineering roles.
  • Fresh graduates with strong project internships will be considered.
  • Basic understanding of cost estimating, BOQ preparation, and measurement techniques.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and MS Excel is required.
  • Knowledge of Primavera, MS Project, and QS software (CostX, Candy, etc.) is an advantage.
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Strong communication, documentation, and teamwork abilities.
  • Fluent in English; French is an advantage.
