Job Summary– MEP AutoCAD Draftsman-Electrical

The MEP AutoCAD Draftsman is responsible for developing precise and well-organized technical drawings that accurately reflect MEP design intent and construction requirements. This role plays a critical part in coordinating between mechanical, electrical, and plumbing disciplines to ensure seamless integration within architectural and structural systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed 2D AutoCAD drawings for mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems based on design inputs and sketches from engineers.
  • Develop and update shop drawings, installation layouts, and as-built drawings in line with project standards.
  • Coordinate with MEP engineers and other disciplines (architectural, structural) to ensure accuracy and resolve any drawing clashes.
  • Maintain and organize drawing records, revisions, and version history according to company documentation procedures.
  • Insert technical symbols, legends, and annotations in compliance with drafting and layer management standards.
  • Perform quantity take-offs and assist in the preparation of material lists when required.
  • Ensure all deliverables comply with SD Group’s quality and drafting standards.
  • Support engineers during design reviews, coordination meetings, and site clarifications.
  • Update and issue revised drawings promptly upon receiving comments from consultants or site teams.
  • Maintain a structured drawing database and apply the company’s CAD layering system for consistency across projects.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Diploma or degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Drafting, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in MEP drafting within construction or consultancy environments.
  • Proven experience preparing MEP coordination drawings and as-built documentation.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD (AutoCAD certification preferred); knowledge of Revit MEP is an advantage.
  • Strong understanding of HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and electrical systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret MEP drawings, technical data, and specifications.
  • Excellent command of layer management, drawing organization, and drafting standards.
  • High level of accuracy, organization, and attention to detail.
  • Good teamwork and communication skills to coordinate with engineers and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet strict deadlines.
