Job Summary– Site Electrical Engineer (Abidjan, Ivory Coast)

The Site Electrical Engineer will play a critical role in managing and supervising on-site electrical activities to ensure successful implementation of all power, lighting, fire alarm, and control systems. The role requires strong technical ability, proactive problem-solving, and effective coordination with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality electrical works aligned with project specifications and client expectations.

Key Responsibilities

Electrical Installation, Supervision & Quality Control

  • Oversee installation, testing, and commissioning of electrical systems including power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, LV/ELV systems, and control equipment.
  • Conduct regular site inspections to ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications, and industry standards (IEC, NEC, local codes).
  • Identify issues, propose corrective actions, and ensure timely resolution.
  • Supervise subcontractors, technicians, and electrical teams to ensure work quality and adherence to safety procedures.

Coordination & Technical Support

  • Collaborate closely with civil, mechanical, and project management teams to ensure seamless integration of electrical systems.
  • Provide technical support during installation and commissioning to resolve electrical issues quickly and effectively.
  • Attend site meetings and participate in coordination workshops.

Testing, Commissioning & Documentation

  • Supervise and participate in testing and commissioning activities for all electrical systems.
  • Prepare and maintain installation reports, test sheets, QA/QC documentation, and as-built records.
  • Provide accurate progress updates and technical reports to project management and clients.

Health & Safety Compliance

  • Ensure electrical works comply with health and safety regulations.
  • Conduct risk assessments, enforce safety protocols, and monitor safe work practices across all electrical activities.

Procurement & Material Management

  • Assist in procurement of electrical materials and equipment, ensuring compliance with project specifications and delivery schedules.
  • Verify material quality, certifications, and conformity with design requirements.

Client & Stakeholder Interface

  • Communicate effectively with clients and stakeholders, addressing any concerns related to electrical works.
  • Ensure electrical deliverables meet client expectations in terms of quality, functionality, and timelines.

Project Scheduling & Progress Monitoring

  • Monitor progress of electrical installations and coordinate with subcontractors to keep works on schedule.
  • Ensure timely completion of electrical milestones in alignment with project timelines.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
  • 5–7 years of experience in electrical engineering, with minimum 4 years on-site supervision in construction projects.
  • Knowledge of power systems, lighting, fire alarm, low-voltage/ELV, and control systems.
  • Strong understanding of IEC, NEC, and local electrical codes.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, ETAP, and ability to read/interpret electrical drawings.
  • Experience in electrical testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting on active construction sites.
  • Strong project coordination skills including procurement, planning, and schedule follow-up.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Fluency in Arabic, English, and French is required.
  • PMP, LEED, or other electrical engineering certifications are an advantage.
