Job Summary :
The Procurement Engineer (Electro-Mechanical) is responsible for managing the sourcing, procurement, and technical evaluation of MEP materials and equipment, including HVAC, plumbing, fire fighting, and electrical systems. The role ensures that all procured items meet technical specifications, project requirements, cost targets, and delivery schedules. This position plays a key role in coordinating between engineering, project teams, and suppliers to support successful project execution.
Key Responsibilities
1. Technical Procurement (MEP Systems)
• Manage procurement of electrical and mechanical equipment and materials (HVAC units, pumps, panels, cables, valves, etc.).
• Review technical specifications, drawings, and BOQs before procurement.
• Prepare material submittals and ensure compliance with project requirements and consultant approvals.
• Coordinate with design and site teams to ensure correct material selection.
2. Estimation & Cost Support
• Assist in preparing cost estimates for electro-mechanical systems during tendering and project execution.
• Analyze supplier quotations and prepare technical and commercial comparisons.
• Support BOQ breakdown and material costing for MEP packages.
• Identify cost variations and support budgeting decisions.
3. Vendor & Supplier Management
• Source and evaluate local and international suppliers for MEP materials.
• Conduct technical and commercial evaluation of vendors.
• Negotiate prices, payment terms, delivery schedules, and warranties.
• Build and maintain a reliable supplier database.
4. Procurement Execution & Control
• Prepare and issue purchase orders in line with project requirements.
• Monitor procurement schedules to ensure timely delivery of materials.
• Track shipments, deliveries, and material approvals.
• Coordinate with logistics and site teams for smooth material flow.
5. Coordination with Project & Engineering Teams
• Work closely with project managers, planning engineers, site engineers, and design engineers.
• Ensure procurement aligns with project schedules and installation timelines.
• Resolve technical discrepancies between suppliers and engineering teams.
• Support site teams with material approvals and substitutions when required.
6. Compliance, Quality & Documentation
• Ensure all materials comply with project specifications, codes, and standards.
• Maintain procurement records, submittals, quotations, and purchase orders.
• Support audits and internal reviews related to procurement activities.
• Ensure proper documentation for warranties, certificates, and approvals.
Qualifications, skills and requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (or related MEP field).
• 5–8 years of experience in MEP procurement or electro-mechanical engineering roles.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, fire fighting, and electrical systems.
• Understanding of technical specifications, drawings, and BOQs.
• Experience in supplier evaluation and negotiation in construction projects.
